shop local: trebor/nevets - new & vintage furnishings

In honor of the busiest shopping weekend of the year, I headed over to Long Beach to support Small Business Saturday (an American Express 2010 invented holiday), and to check out the slew of vintage shops that I have heard were hiding out on Fourth Street.

Trebor/Nevets was my first stop. Wow.

• Store Size / Inventory - 5 (Most stores in this Long Beach street of vintage finery are one shop wide. Trebor/Nevets is two shops wide which allows the merchandise to be displayed and curated properly.)
• Merchandise Quality  - 5 (Great modern/retro vibe to the merchandise.)
• Organization - 5 (Very organized shop.)
• Pricing - 2-3 (Although the goods are not inexpensive, the prices are fair for the quality being shown in the shop. And I would assume there is a bit of room in the pricing ... depending ...)
• Service - 5 (Well staffed and very helpful team. Staff also does design projects and consulting.)

The Trebor/Nevets shop is well organized and a delight to browse through. Pieces are a mixture of vintage and new furnishings. Merchandise is in excellent shape and the origination of the items being sold is reliable. Excellent variety as well with a selection of couches, end tables, chairs and dining sets. GREAT vintage lighting. I love vintage lighting.

I was fascinated by the wide variety of  mid-century glass and pottery.

Another endorsement of Trebor/Nevets: I have a picky friend with extremely good taste who found Trebor/Nevets because she was researching a lighting fixture. She used Trebor/Nevets to redecorate her living room and had very good results. Her room was an awkward space with glass walls on two sides and no walls, just open rooms on the other two sides. I plan to photograph her living room, but in the meantime, you can see a couple of before shots here. 

Tons of table lamps.

LOVED these two nightstands. Brass handles rough it up a bit.

 A good assortment of accent chairs. Some new, and some vintage.

I lived in Long Beach about twenty years ago and 4th Street was never this cool. The area is undergoing a bit of revitalization and 4th Street is now known as "Retro Row."  Right across the street was this art deco theater, "Art Theater."
