architecture for humanity: restore the shore

Dwell on Design San Diego Home Tours are happening this weekend Nov 10 & 11. As part of the event, all ticket holders are invited to the brand-new Dwell Design and Drive event, to test-drive a new Lincoln vehicle and help raise money for Architecture for Humanity

Architecture for Humanity's most recent cause is raising donations to restore the hard hit Seaside Heights, New Jersey area. You can donate directly to Hurricane Sandy rebuilding efforts on the Architecture for Humanity website.

Spots for the San Diego tours are selling fast. For modernist buffs unable to purchase tickets, the Dwell Design and Drive event is a great way to get a taste of the tours. The Drive event is free and open to the public. All you have to do (if you don't already have a Home Tour ticket) is RSVP online (Nov. 10 or  Nov. 11).

Meet architects and designers from homes featured on the tours; sample fine cuisine; view MCASD La Jolla’s new exhibition "Behold, America!" and student work at New School of Architecture + Design; and mingle with fellow design lovers, all for a great cause.

  1. I'm sure the home tours will be fantastic, but that drive event is brilliant...and what a great cause to support!

    1. It is a great charity to support. The NY/NJ devastation is unbelievable.

  2. It's interesting that, unlike Hurricane Katrina, Sandy impacted some of the wealthier areas of N.Y/N.J. Also it is being covered well by the media because the worst-hit areas are the living/vacation spots for many of the news pundits. We should watch in the next few years to ascertain the recovery rate of New York vs. New Orleans. Then we can draw some conclusions between the haves and have nots. Just saying.

    1. Another possibility: Perhaps we learned from New Orleans and the improved response to Sandy isn't a case of bias.
