dwell on design - #3 modern lighting

Here are some inspired modern lighting ideas from the Dwell on Design Modernism show held June 22-23, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (now known as the Staples Center and home of the Lakers and Stanley Cup Kings).

Let's start out with these cool lights which can be had from Lightopia based out of Laugna Beach. I recently purchased a Jonathan Adler lamp from Lightopia and Lightopia offered the best prices, hands down, of any online shop for the lamp I was looking for.

Looks like a jelly fish.
We also admired these lights from David Trubridge. These are "beautiful , sculptural lamps constructed with an environmental conscience as well as a sincere and decisive focus on art as story." The North America distributor is Wakanine

First, let me orient you. Note that this table lamp is sitting next to an airstream trailer. It is really an outdoor patio heater and light from Kindle Living. To quote the DIY Network, "I want that!"

Kindle's tagline is "A Campfire for the 21st Century." These lamps have gotten a lot of press. An appropriate quote from Chandra Keel, "Outdoor heaters that actually look good." Indeed.

Next we stopped by and took a look at these little beauties by MacMaster Design. How do they get the light bulbs in, you may be wondering. I asked. The slats flex.

And finally, an homage to the sea created by Seth Parks Glass. He says on his site, " I get much of my inspiration from nature. I feel like I'm giving birth to new life when I create glass. My goal is to create abstract natural forms that will inspire, excite, and soothe the minds of admirers." Well done.

I digress from lights. I love glass a lot. I have a little obsession with green glass currently. These bottles from Vetro Vero were reasonably priced, and a would look outstanding on any mid-century modern shelf.

    1. I thought it was curious that the company was named Kindle Living. I guess Amazon does not totally own the word Kindle.

  2. What a great post; I love the tour of all the lights. I want some of those MacMaster hanging lights. The blue one reminds me of something I saw at the Chihuly in the Garden exhibit at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
